Terms of Service

Last updated: September 8, 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using AfterPack (the "Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. If you accept these Terms on behalf of a company, you confirm that you are authorised to bind it. We may update these Terms; the current version always sits on this page with its date, and a change that materially affects a paid subscription takes effect at your next renewal, so you can cancel before it applies.

2. Description of Service

AfterPack is a JavaScript obfuscator: it transforms your build output so that it resists reverse-engineering, cloning, and automated analysis. The Service includes:

  • A command-line interface and build-tool plugins that run the engine on your own machine
  • Cloud (Pro) builds, metered by the megabyte of JavaScript processed
  • A dashboard for workspaces, projects, API keys, usage, and Protection Maps
  • Documentation, and support at the level your plan provides
  • Free use of the local engine, unmetered, with or without an account

3. User Obligations

When using AfterPack, you agree to:

  • Use the Service only for lawful purposes and in compliance with all applicable laws
  • Not use the Service to obfuscate malicious code, malware, or any software intended to harm users or systems
  • Not attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or circumvent any security measures of the Service itself
  • Maintain the confidentiality of any account credentials associated with your use of the Service
  • Not use the Service in any way that could damage, disable, or impair the Service

4. Eligibility, Export Control, and Sanctions

You must be old enough to enter into a binding contract where you live — 18 in most countries, or the age of majority in your jurisdiction — to create an account or buy a plan. The Service is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

You also confirm that you are not located in, ordinarily resident in, or acting for anyone in a country or territory under comprehensive trade sanctions, and that you are not named on any applicable restricted-party list, including those maintained by the United States, the European Union, and the United Kingdom. You may not use, export, or re-export AfterPack, or permit its use, in breach of applicable export-control or sanctions law. We may suspend or terminate an account in order to comply with those laws.

5. Billing and Payments

Paid plans are sold and billed through Creem. The prices, allowances, overage rates, trial lengths, and caps published on Plans and tiers are the commercial terms of your subscription and form part of these Terms; where a figure appears in both places, that page governs.

  • Free trial: Indie and Team include a 14-day free trial, once per workspace; Studio does not include one. Cancel at any point before the trial ends and you are charged nothing. If you do not cancel, the subscription begins and the first period is charged when the trial ends.
  • Automatic renewal: A subscription renews automatically until you cancel it, at the price then published. A monthly plan is charged once each period. A yearly plan is charged an upfront amount when the term starts, then a small monthly charge for the rest of the term — see the tiers page for the exact split — and renews at the annual anniversary. By subscribing you authorise Creem to charge your payment method for each charge and each renewal.
  • Cancellation: You can cancel at any time from the dashboard. Cancelling stops the next renewal, turns off overage immediately, and keeps your entitlement — tier and included allowance — until the end of the period already paid for, after which the workspace returns to the Free plan. On a yearly plan, the monthly charges that carry the rest of the term keep billing until it ends; nothing is charged after that. Cancelling during a trial ends the trial immediately. Periods are not pro-rated, and you can resume any time before the cancellation takes effect.
  • Metered overage: Cloud builds are metered in megabytes of JavaScript processed. Usage beyond your plan allowance and any prepaid Extra MB accrues overage at the per-megabyte rate published on the tiers page and appears on your next invoice. Overage is on by default on a paid plan so that a build does not fail mid-sprint, and it is bounded by a cap the workspace owner controls: set the cap to 0 and overage is off, so a build that outruns the prepaid pools fails instead of billing you. Until two invoices are paid, a new workspace is also held to a house cap of twice its monthly base, and the lower of the two caps applies. Overage never accrues during a trial, on a past-due subscription, on a subscription scheduled to cancel, or on the Free plan.
  • Extra MB: An Extra MB top-up is a one-time purchase, not a subscription. It does not auto-renew, the megabytes it grants never expire, and it is drawn on only once the plan allowance for the period is spent.
  • Merchant of record: Creem is the merchant of record for every AfterPack purchase: it sells the subscription to you, takes the payment, calculates and remits tax, and issues the invoice or receipt. Your purchase is therefore also governed by Creem's buyer terms. Your card details are held by Creem; AfterPack never receives or stores them.
  • Taxes: Prices are quoted exclusive of VAT, sales tax, and any equivalent. Creem adds the applicable tax at checkout, based on your billing country and the details you enter. The official VAT invoice is the document in the Creem customer portal; AfterPack's monthly statement email is a summary of it, not an invoice.
  • Refunds: Refunds are handled by Creem under its buyer terms. Beyond those terms, AfterPack decides any discretionary refund — write to us and we will look at it. We do not refund a period simply because it went unused.
  • Right of withdrawal: If you buy as a consumer in the EU, the EEA, or the UK, you have 14 days to withdraw from the purchase. Because the Service is digital content supplied immediately, by running a paid build or opening the paid features you ask us to begin performance at once and acknowledge that the withdrawal right is lost once the service has been used within that period.
  • Failed payment: A failed payment opens a seven-day grace window in which the workspace stays entitled. On a yearly plan, a failed monthly charge does not end access while the term you already paid for is still running; the grace window applies once that paid-through period ends. If a grace window expires, cloud Pro builds stop; local free builds keep working throughout.
  • Price changes: We may change prices. A change applies from your next renewal, never mid-period, and we tell you before it takes effect so that you can cancel first.

Billing attaches to a workspace, not to a person: a workspace holds one subscription, one allowance pool, and its projects, and its owner is the person who can change the plan. If you belong to several workspaces, each one bills separately.

6. Intellectual Property

Your Code: You retain all rights to the source code you process through AfterPack. We do not claim any ownership over your input or output code.

Our Service: AfterPack, including all software, documentation, and branding, is owned by AfterPack and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, or distribute our software except as expressly permitted.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR COMPLETELY SECURE. WHILE OBFUSCATION SIGNIFICANTLY INCREASES THE DIFFICULTY OF REVERSE-ENGINEERING, NO OBFUSCATION METHOD CAN GUARANTEE ABSOLUTE PROTECTION AGAINST ALL FORMS OF ANALYSIS.

8. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, AFTERPACK SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM. We are not liable for downtime, degradation, or data loss caused by the infrastructure providers the Service runs on, Cloudflare in particular, for maintenance announced in advance, or for your own network or environment. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, including your statutory rights as a consumer.

9. Termination

You can stop using the Service at any time and delete your account from the dashboard. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms, if the law requires it, or if a payment fails and the grace window described above expires. Where we terminate a paid subscription for our own convenience rather than for your breach, we refund the unused part of the period you have already paid for. On termination your right to use the Service ends; the sections on intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and disputes survive.

10. Disputes

If something goes wrong, raise it with us first: email us a written description of the problem, and both sides will try in good faith to resolve it within 30 days before taking any further step. This does not affect the mandatory consumer protections of your country of residence, which apply whatever these Terms say. Your purchase itself is made from Creem as merchant of record and is additionally governed by Creem's buyer terms.
