> **Update, September 2026.** AfterPack is live and the waitlist is closed. Current plans and prices are on [/docs/tiers](https://www.afterpack.dev/docs/tiers) and what has shipped is on the [roadmap](https://www.afterpack.dev/roadmap). I have kept this post as it was written, except for a few claims that ran ahead of what we ship.

Today, I'm excited to announce the public waitlist for **AfterPack** — a next-generation JavaScript obfuscator built from the ground up to protect your code in the AI era.

## The Problem

JavaScript obfuscation has been around for decades, but the landscape has fundamentally changed. Modern AI models like [Claude](https://claude.ai) can explain minified code in seconds. Security scanners map your attack surface automatically. And reverse engineering tools have never been more powerful.

[Traditional obfuscators](<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Obfuscation_(software)>) weren't built for this world. They rely on techniques that AI can see right through:

- Simple string encoding that LLMs decode instantly
- Predictable control flow patterns that tools unravel
- Symbolic naming that hints at functionality

**Your source code is shipping with every deployment.** Attackers, competitors, and AI crawlers are reading it.

## The Solution

AfterPack takes a fundamentally different approach. Instead of just making code hard to read, we make reversing it expensive: every build comes out structurally different, so tools an attacker or an AI writes against one build's patterns break on the next.

### What Makes AfterPack Different

**Built with [Rust](https://www.rust-lang.org).** AfterPack's core is written in Rust for maximum performance. Transform your entire codebase in milliseconds, not minutes.

**Built for the AI era.** Polymorphic transformations give every build a different shape: the same source produces a different program each time, so tools written against one build's patterns break on the next. _(Edited October 2026: this line used to say a model had no structure to learn. Whether a model trained on many builds learns one has not been measured.)_

**Framework-Aware.** Auto-detection for [Next.js](https://nextjs.org), [Vite](https://vite.dev), [Astro](https://astro.build), [Remix](https://remix.run), and more. Zero configuration required — just run [`npx afterpack`](https://www.npmjs.com/package/afterpack) after your build, or use AfterPack's native plugins/extensions for popular frameworks.

**Production-Ready.** No eval(), [CSP](https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/HTTP/CSP) compliant, source maps included. Works at the edge on [Cloudflare Workers](https://workers.cloudflare.com).

## Free Forever

The CLI and the framework plugins are **free and open source**, and the Free tier has no build limit:

- Unlimited builds
- All basic transforms (renaming, control flow, string encoding)
- Source maps for debugging
- Framework presets
- Deterministic builds for CI caching

## Pro When You Need It

For teams that need more protection, AfterPack Pro adds advanced features:

- **Protection you can aim** — per-file and per-region overrides, so the heaviest preset lands only on the code that matters
- **Cloud builds with history** — the same engine running in Cloudflare Workers, with a stored Protection Map for every build

Plans start at **$49/month** for indie developers and scale to enterprise with dedicated support and isolated runtimes.

## Get started

AfterPack is live. Run [`npx afterpack`](https://www.npmjs.com/package/afterpack) after your build, or follow the [quickstart](https://www.afterpack.dev/docs/quickstart) for your framework.

**Ship software. Not source.**

The JavaScript ecosystem deserves better protection. AfterPack is building it.
